Online Summer Camp

Strengthen foundational skills in Math, Literacy, Comprehension, and Writing Composition for children ages 7-10

The LGW's Virtual Summer Camp is designed to provide and strengthen foundational skills in Math, Literacy, Comprehension, and Writing Composition for children ages 7-10 for a strong start to the school year in September. This is an affordable six-week program aligned with the Common Core Curriculum Standards that provides live 1 hour virtual instruction from Monday-Thursday to small groups of up to 10 students. Our teachers have Master’s Degrees in Elementary, Preschool and Special Education, Trilingual (Portuguese, English, and Spanish)

Classes will utilize the  highly effective educational approach of the Legion of Good Will, “The Pedagogy of Affection”, created by the educator and president of the LGW, José de Paiva Netto, which is focused on developing brain and heart.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Small Group (Option A)

  • 6-week program, 4 days per week, 1 hour class per day (Monday-Thursday)
  • July 13th to August 20th, 2020
  • Choice of AM or PM time slot
  • Live virtual classes via Google Meet
  • Up to 10 students per group
  • Project-based Learning format

Fee: $85 per week or 10% discount if registered for all 6 weeks

Online Individual Tutoring (Option B)

  • Individual-basis online setting, one-on-one, with focused instruction on child’s specific academic needs
  • Personalized calendar of instruction according to child’s & family’s needs
  • Beginning in (but not limited to) July to August, 2020
  • $35 per hour instruction with experienced certified teacher
  • Lesson plan and schedule built in direct consultation with teacher.Upon request

Fee: $35 per hour (discounts available if more than 15 hours)

The LGW's program fee is tax-deductible, as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

MEET THE TEACHERS

Ms. Sâmara Malaman, M.A. in Special Education 

A lover of project based learning and thematic units, Ms. Malaman is a NJ certified teacher in Elementary, Special Education, and Bilingual Education. With over 10 years of experience working with students in public schools, Ms. Malaman also works with the state of NJ in Early Intervention providing educational therapies to children with different learning abilities. 

Ms. Maria Albuquerque, Ed.S. in School Leadership

A believer in cooperative learning for the full culture assimilation of bilingual students, Ms. Albuquerque has worked as a Bilingual Teacher (Spanish & Portuguese) in New Jersey for over 25 years. Ms. Albuquerque is also a direct intervention teacher for NJ’s Early Intervention program.
